At Home Solution for iPhone Water Damage
After a night out with friends, and a minor drink spill on your iPhone, you go home and notice that there is a blob of water on the inside of the screen. You assumed that by the time you got home, that the device would be dry. You’re probably upset because you know that the iPhone cost you a lot of money, and while it is still functional, you don’t want to look at that unattractive water mark on the screen. Luckily, there are tried and proven at home solutions that won’t cost you a dime.
So what should you do?
First of all, if your iPhone ever becomes wet, you should immediately remove the battery. Leaving the battery in can cause a shortage and irreparable damages. So, if you left it in for an hour or so after the water or liquid got on your iPhone, then you are going to be lucky if this works for you. However, it is still worth a shot! Take the battery out, and set it aside somewhere that it can dry. If it is sunny outside, leave it sitting in the sun for a bit.
Take the rest of the iPhone and put it in a bowl of dry rice. You might have heard rumors that this works before, but it is actually a tested and proven method. The rice will work to absorb any moisture that is left in the phone. Leave it like this for as long as needed – sometimes overnight. At the very least, you should be able to save at least some of the components of your device so that if you have to buy a new one, you can get some cash for old parts.
Give everything a few hours, and then put the battery back in the iPhone. When you turn it on again, you might notice that any signs of water damage are gone. This method has worked many times in the past, so it is definitely worth a try. Good luck, and be sure to keep that iPhone dry!
